Prexpe has become the first non-banked digital wallet in Peru to achieve interoperability, allowing its users to send and receive instant transfers regardless of the recipient’s financial institution. This development aligns with a recent study by Kantar, highlighting the significant adoption and importance of digital wallets in Peru, with a 76% adoption rate and a 96% recognition of their importance.

Susan Raczy, Country Manager for Prexpe, shared with America Economía that the company, with support from GMoney, has obtained its participant code from the Electronic Clearing House (CCE), marking a significant milestone for the local financial landscape. This achievement is part of broader efforts led by the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP) to promote open and barrier-free payment environments through Circular No. 0024-2022-BCRP, aiming to accelerate the adoption of digital payments in the country.

With this advancement, Prexpe positions itself as a leader in the fintech industry by providing the first interoperable non-banked digital wallet in Peru. This move not only enhances financial inclusion but also supports the development of the digital payment ecosystem, offering users immediacy and security in their transactions between bank accounts and major wallets like Yape and Plin.
