On May 30, over 160 faith-based and civic organizations and religious leaders from Central America, Mexico, and the United States published an open letter expressing alarm over recent actions by the Salvadoran government. The letter specifically condemns the politically-motivated arrest of anti-corruption lawyer Ruth Eleonora López and the recently introduced “Foreign Agents Law,” which threatens to dismantle the country’s organized civil society.
The signees urge the Organization of American States (OAS) and the European Union, as well as other international institutions, to publicly speak out against these injustices.
